Both models prioritize sustainability and ecological resilience, creating environments where people and nature can thrive together.
Agrihoods
At the heart of agrihoods is the philosophy that food production and human habitation should be one in the same. By incorporating working farms into residential spaces, agrihoods reduce food miles, promote healthy eating, and create opportunities for residents to participate in farming activities. These neighborhoods often feature educational programs on sustainable agriculture, giving residents the chance to learn about permaculture, organic gardening, and the broader impacts of their food choices. As a result, agrihoods foster a sense of community, while also addressing critical issues like food security and environmental sustainability.
Conservation Communities
Conservation communities, on the other hand, place a strong emphasis on land stewardship. Developers of these communities work closely with conservation organizations to identify key ecological features, such as wetlands, forests, or wildlife corridors, that should be preserved and protected.
